Saturday March 31, 2007 at the Fox Theater in Detroit, Afa and Sika, The Wild Samoans officially took their place alongside the immortals of Pro Wrestling to become members of the 2007 class of the WWE Hall of Fame. This momentous induction was part of a gala affair attended by the entire WWE roster, management, many legends, and thousands of fans.
Afa's son, WXW Heavyweight Champion THE GREAT SAMU, and Sika's son, Matt "Rosie" Anoa'i, were given the honor of inducting their fathers into the esteemed Hall. They lovingly and emotionally spoke of the toughness of their dads, the hardships that they faced throughout their lives, and the positive effect that they had on those who followed in their footsteps.
Then it was time for the legendary Wild Samoans themselves to take center stage, which they did to thunderous applause. Sika first addressed the capacity crowd with a kind Samoan greeting, leading the way for Afa to dispense his unique brand of wisdom and wit, even telling a hilarious story of how he and his brother first got into wrestling. Afa reminded his peers and the fans that his generation gladly paved the way for future generations to continue their legacy, and ultimately gave a huge helping of thanks to his family, the fans, and the lord above. Another rousing ovation followed, and it was official: The Wild Samoans were finally members of the WWE Hall of Fame.
Besides The Wild Samoans, others who were inducted into the Hall of Fame this year included "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, Jim Ross, Jerry "The King" Lawler, Nick Bockwinkel, Mr. Fuji, The Sheik, and "Mr. Perfect" Curt Henning. The ceremony was attended by many members of the WXW family, including L.A. Smooth, The Samoan Dragon, and Doc Daniels.
The first two hours of the Hall of Fame ceremony (including the Wild Samoans' Induction) was broadcast live worldwide on WWE.com. As a matter of fact, you can watch the entire induction ceremony for Afa, Sika, and many of this year's inductee's right here (www.wwe.com/superstars/halloffame/).
One night earlier, The Samoan Family also celebrated the premiere of "The Condemned", the feature film debut of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. WWE.com covered the event all night, and their cameras showcased the family throughout the evening having a great time along with WXW alumni like Batista and Snitsky.
One night after the Hall of Fame Ceremony, Afa and Sika (along with the other new inductees) were formally introduced to a live crowd at nearby Ford Field of over 80,000 fans and millions on pay-per-view as part of the extravaganza known as Wrestlemania 23.   All of us here at WXW would like to express our congratulations to Afa, as well as his brother Sika, for their induction into the 2007 class of the WWE Hall Of Fame!
